Frequently asked questions
The most common questions we get from our clients about getting a spray tan
48 Hours Before Your Spray Tan:
-Waxing, manicures, pedicures, facials, at home hair removers, micro blading, and massages should be done 48 hours before your spray tan appointment. The skin/nail technician use products that can act as a barrier to the skin. And this in return will result in a blotchy spray tan. And nobody wants that!
-24 hours Before Your Spray Tan:
Exfoliate your body thoroughly using an oil-free body scrub, dry body brush, exfoliating gloves, etc. Just make sure it doesn't contain any oils in it even if its natural oils. Oils act as a barrier to the skin and prevent the solution from developing.
Shave using a razor WITHOUT the MOISTURE STRIP. This is key as the moisture strip will act as a barrier as well. And this can actually prevent the solution from take to all parts that have been shaved. You'd never think this small thing could prevent something like this but it does and has happened to previous clients because they used this type of razor. And avoid any shaving products that contain oils in them as well.
-Day of Your Spray Tan:
The day of your appointment, you want to come into the appointment with clean, dry skin with nothing on it including any sweat as well. So, refrain from using makeup, moisturizers, perfumes, body sprays, lotions, body oils, body washes that containing any oils, shampoo/conditioners that contain any oils in them (the product will run down your body), and deodorants of any kind as these create a barrier on the skin from the spray tan solution to develop properly. And when we say avoid oils we also mean any oil that is good for the skin like coconut oils. All oils act as a barrier. Imagine how you'd prep your body for surgery then this is the same way you need to come in for a spray tan if this helps.
When you shower the day before or on the day of your appointment, avoid using any bar soaps or Dove shower products (for hair and/or body) as they have an invisible film/ good for the body oils but bad for a spray tan that also act as a barrier.
*Even though these rules are a pain, they are very important to getting the best spray tan and allowing it to last longer as your body is prepped in the best way!*
Most people wear swimsuits or undergarments to their appointment but wear whatever is most comfortable to you. Women (over 18 yrs of age) may spray tan nude or topless. Disposable undergarments are provided free of charge otherwise bring what you'd like to be spray tanned in. Men must have their naughty bits covered at all times even if its with a "sock" to avoid any spray tan lines. Men are not allowed to spray tan nude and must bring what they want to be spray tanned in. Solution washes out of most clothing very easily but tents to stain nylon, Lycra, and lace materials; therefore, wearing dark colors is recommended when choosing what you'll want to wear to be spray tanned in.
*Any inappropriate behavior from any client will result in the service being immediately being stopped, full payment of service will need to be done, being escorted from the building, authorities possible being called, and client no longer being allowed any services of any kind from The Babe Cave ever again. We take this very seriously!*
Avoid wearing any clothing or shoes that are tight as these will rub against your skin and could ruin your spray tan so we suggest you wear loose clothing and flip flops or slip on shoes after your appointment. Socks and bras should be avoided after your spray tan as well. If there’s a chance of rain, please bring an umbrella so it’ll help avoid from getting your spray tan wet from your car to your home/destination. We have an umbrella in studio and will assist you getting into your car as dry as possible. But it’s your responsibility to get from your car to your door without getting as wet as possible. We also suggest you to wear long sleeves and long pants after your appointment if it’s raining. This too will better help the skin from getting wet. If you have leather seats, we suggest you to bring a towel to sit on especially in the summer time to help from sweating your spray tan off on your leather seats. The spray tan shouldn’t harm your seats but the towel will help to keep your body dry so your spray tan develops properly.
If you got a Signature Spray Tan:
Wait 10-12 hours to shower after your spray tan. The longer the better so it has time to develop. Avoid getting wet so no giving your kids a bath, doing dishes, no sexy time, no sweating, no swimming, no dogs licking you, playing in the rain, getting a massage, going into a sauna/steam room, getting your nails done and/or hair done, etc. You get the hint. Your body must remain dry and untouched for the next 10 -12 hours until you shower. This is a perfect time to wear your comfy clothes and catch up on your favorite shows. You will want to wear to bed anything that is loose and not cause you to sweat. This is the time you want to avoid sleeping in the nude. And a lot of clients wear looser socks on their hands to avoid touching their skin while sleeping. You don’t realize all the different positions you’re in while you’re dreaming.
If you got an Express Spray Tan:
Since this is an express tan, you must RINSE ONLY shower 2-4 hours after being spray tanned. 2 hrs. for a light tan, 3 hrs. for a medium tan, and 4 hrs. for a dark tan. Your rinse only shower time will determine the tan outcome. Do not sleep in this solution like our Signature Spray Tan or go longer than 4 hours from doing a rinse only shower! And when we say "rinse only" shower its just that, you're literally only using water on your body to rinse all the bronzer off. If you need to wash your pits and bits be extremely careful to not get any soap on the rest of your body. And avoid washing your hair as well because the suds will go down your body. The reason for no soap is because your actual express tan is clear and is still developing for the next 24 hours. Do not be discouraged if you see your tan rinse away with your rinse only shower as its only the bronzer that you're seeing going down the drain. And not your actual tan. Remember, like we said your tan will continue to develop over the next 24 hours. Also avoid using anything on your body until the 24 hours is up including lotions. After the 24 hours from when you got spray tanned, is when you can resume soap showering and applying anything to your skin as its done developing. And you can return to your regular daily routine.
The life of your spray tan depends on the how well you prep your skin before the spray tan and how you take care of your skin after the tan. Moisturizing your skin is key to maintaining the tan!!! Moisturize at least twice a day if you can. A tan extender is good to use to extend the life of your tan (recommended for vacations when you're going to be swimming in salt water and in chlorine pools that can strip a spray tan quickly). Using the extender once a day or every other day, along with a heavy moisturizing cream once a day will be the best way to extend your tan! After you shower, you want to pat dry and not rub your skin as it will cause it to fade and could cause blotchiness.
If you plan on swimming in a pool and/or ocean, please be aware that chlorine and salt water can cause fading or complete removal of your tan. Avoid getting body waxed after your spray tan. When shaving, take your time and be as gentle as possible and do not use shaving creams that are high in alcohol.
No, absolutely not! Our solution is made of the highest quality, natural ingredients. All of our technicians have also been trained and certified!
Your tan will last between 5 -10 days depending on your skin type and how well you follow aftercare instructions. A spray tan only affects the top layer of skin cells. Since your body is constantly shedding dead skin cells in order to regenerate new ones, the rate that you shed these skin cells will determine how quickly your tan will fade.
DHA, dihydroxyacetone, is a chemical derived from plant sources such as sugar beets, sugar cane, and the fermentation of glycerin.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective sunless tanning products contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is a colorless chemical which interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change. Since these dead skin cells are constantly being shed, the color change produced by DHA (spray tanning chemical) typically lasts about five to seven days.
DHA is not absorbed through the skin into the body and it has no known toxicity. DHA has been listed with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1973, and has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years.
The Babe Cave uses products (including retail products) that are 100% Vegan (approved by Peta foundation), naturally derived ingredients, paraben free, erythrulose free, and fragrance free. And all of our solutions can be custom blended for that perfect for your perfect skintone. Solutions contain Aloe vera (helps to repair skin, hydration, acts a moisture lock, and for skin rejuvenation), walnut extract (helps for achieve that natural-looking tan), and vitamin c (antioxidant protection, shielding skin from damaging free radicals).
The main component in sunless tanning solutions is DHA. DHA is a non-toxic, simple sugar made from sugar or sugar beets. Since 1970, DHA has been approved for use on skin and is found in most cosmetics and all sunless tanning creams. Spray tan solutions with DHA have been recommended by all of the major medical and skincare associations around the world.
The best time to spray tan for a special event is 2 - 3 days before your big event. This allows for all of the bronzer to be off of your skin and not end up on the underside of your special event clothing. This also allows for you to get this out of the way without the need to rush around. For example, if your event is on a Saturday most people will spray tan either Wednesday or Thursday night.
Yes but we require written consent from your Doctor. You may have your Doctor email us at babecavebeautystudio@gmail.com from their office in advance or you can bring it to your appointment. But we won't spray tan you without it. No Exceptions! The spray tan ingredient DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) on pregnant and nursing women and their babies is unknown. While we feel this solution is safe we just like to side on the side of caution by requesting a signed note or email from Doctor before spray tanning you. We care about you and your baby!
Our priority is to make sure your tan always looks natural. We have several different shades of color so that we can always customize your desired tan to your skin tone.
You must be over age 14 to be spray tanned. Anyone between the ages of 14 -17 must be accompanied on by a parent/guardian. And must remain at studio from start to finish of appointment. The parent/guardian will be required to sign a release waiver for the minor.
Your spray tan will be applied by hand by one of our highly trained and certified technicians.
Our tanning solution is machine washable and should not stain clothing, sheets, or pillow cases. However, there is a chance the bronzer will stain fabrics like nylon, silk, leather, or satin. If you are going to sleep in your spray tan, we also suggest that you sleep in long pajama tops and pants to avoid any rubbing with your sheets or skin. And a lot of our clients wear cotton gloves or socks on their hands to prevent from touching their skin in their sleep and creating fingerprints on their tan.
Spray tan solution does not contain any SPF. Even though you're tan, you can still possibly burn under your spray tan. We suggest that anytime you are exposed to the sun, you should always protect your skin.
The most common questions we get from our clients about teeth whitening
The shade of your teeth will brighten up to 7-10 shades, with an average improvement of 1-3 shades with each 20 minute session. An individual's results will depend on their current tooth shade, amount of sessions completed, and the overall health of your teeth. The result will whiter, healthier looking smile. Everyone's teeth are different and will only get to their most natural white shade. We recommend 3 sessions of 20-minutes for optimal results to remove years of staining.
Results vary from person to person and depends on your diet and lifestyle. However, with proper maintenance, periodic touch-up treatments, and our at home products, you can keep your smile looking great for a lifetime despite daily staining habits.
Our teeth whitening teeth process and products have been proven to be safe and effective. A small percentage of people may experience some tooth sensitivity and gum irritation, which disappears once you stop using the product. Vitamin E oil is available for clients who experience discomfort. As with anything, abuse of a product can result in undesirable consequences. If you are unsure of your current oral health, talk with your dentist prior to whitening.
Treatment time is 60-minutes long (in 3 - 20 minutes increments - gel starts to break down every 20 minutes so every 20 minutes you must rinse and reapply the gel with the gel pen for another 20 minutes) depending on the discoloration of your teeth due to the daily staining habits and your desired result. Consider it a spa day for your smile! 🙂
Our teeth whitening process is self-administered whereas dental processes involve contact along with additional exams. We use a LED lighting meant for teeth whitening along with our signature whitening gels. Our system has proven to deliver amazing results with little to no sensitivity when compared other whitening systems.
Most of our clients experience no sensitivity. An exceedingly small percentage of clients may feel some sensitivity, especially if they are dehydrated or consume extremely warm or cold drinks and foods within an hour or more after the whitening session. Any sensitivity is temporary and will disappear within 24-48 hours.
Yes, teeth whitening will remove staining from existing dental work and restore it back to its original shade. We cannot whiten them beyond the original color of the material used at the time of placement. If there are any food or drink stain on the cosmetic cap, crown, or filling they will lift. However, the original color of the filing, cap, veneer or crown cannot be altered.
Teeth whitening provides drastic results for anyone who wants to have a whiter smile. This includes people with teeth that have been stained from daily habits such as smoking or drinking dark colored beverages such a coffee, tea, soda, wine, etc.
Unfortunately, no you can't - whitening may interfere with the glue holding your braces and will cause uneven whitening. Best wait until you have your braces off.
We don't recommend whitening while you're pregnant or breast feeding and have you wait till you've given birth and are done with nursing completely.
We don't recommend whitening while you have holes in your teeth. If your teeth aren't in an healthy state we recommend seeing a dentist for advice first.
We don't recommend whitening for anyone under 18 - their pulp (nerve) is still exposed and will be sensitive.
We do recommend you see your dentist for a return cleaning and exam before considering a whitening treatment.
We do not recommend whitening for the following: Children under the age of 18 as the pulp (nerve of the tooth) is enlarged until this age and whitening will cause irritation and sensitivity. Pregnant and breastfeeding person(s), people will health related issues - e.g. Colitis, Crohn's as these health issues can cause damage to your enamel. We recommend you seek advice from your General Practitioner or Dentist before getting your teeth whitened:
- Periodontal disease
- Overly sensitive teeth
- Have had recent oral surgery
- Decayed teeth
- Exposed roots
- Exposed dentine
- Jaw problems
No, teeth whitening isn't permanent - stains will build up again over time.
If you follow our guidelines for the best and safest results there will be no damage to your enamel. If you're concerned we recommend you ask your dentist.
We see awesome results on yellower stains, but you will still see a great improvement.
When your gums have a whitened color on them, its because you got gel on your gums. If this happens, you would just wipe the gel off your gums. If you do see that your gums are white, its ok your gums will return to normal within a few hours and the whiteness will disappear. Avoid hot, spicy food until your gums are fully healed and wait at least one week before whitening again using an at home whitening kit. Treat your teeth for only half the recommended time during your next treatment and slowly increase the whitening time with subsequent treatments.
Once gel is applied to your teeth the active ingredient in the gel starts to break down every 20 minutes. Oxygen enters into the enamel and destine, which in turn breaks down the stains inside the tooth. The structure of the tooth is not changed - it is only the enamel of the tooth that appears whiter. For best and safest results, we recommend you closely follow the instructions provided.
The LED light helps to activate the whitening gel and speeds up the process of whitening.
The most common questions we get from our clients about getting their makeup done
You can ONLY book an appointment online. For a makeup application, you will need to book no later than 24 hrs before event.
We recommend never waxing or exfoliating the day of or the day before your event. We suggest you get your brows done at least 4 days in advance. If you’re planning on getting a facial, do so at least one week prior to your wedding day just in case your skin breaks out. This will give your skin the ample time it needs to heal and recover from waxing, threading, exfoliating, and/or from any beauty service done to it.
For a makeup appointment, please make sure your face is completely clean and free of any makeup or mascara before the makeup artist arrives.
A makeup appointment is 45 - 60 minutes long.
Not for individual makeup appointments but for several makeup appointments for one event like a wedding yes we do require a $250 deposit.
To secure a date, a signed contract is required with a deposit of $250 due at the time of signing. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable. Please be advised, dates, and scheduled makeup times will only be reserved when a signed contract and deposit are received. If both are not done, the makeup service hasn’t been officially been booked/locked in.
All deposits paid by client will be refunded if contract is cancelled within 3 days of contract signing. After the 3 day grace period, should a client cancel the booked event or any service on a contract, the deposit will not be refunded or transferred. If makeup artist cancels at any time or be unable to perform artist’s duties for any reason, the deposit paid will be fully refunded by check within two (2) weeks. Client agrees that the refund of 100% of the deposit is the only liability to The Babe Cave Beauty Studio, and any and all of its owners, employees, and agents.
You deserve your glam-on-the-go whenever, wherever. We go the extra mile, literally, to deliver beauty to your front door even if it's outside The Babe Cave Beauty Studio core service area. If you'd like for us to travel to a certain destination hundreds to thousands of miles from 62220, we can arrange for that to happen as well.

We think a trial is always a good idea but its not mandatory. It allows us a day to play and experiment with different colors and looks best suited for your special day.
Absolutely! If you are unsure of who you would like to work with for your wedding day, then try different looks with other artists. We want you to be 100% sure of your decision. Please keep in mind that we cannot hold a date without a deposit and signed contract.
The best time to book your pre-wedding trial is approximately one to four months before your wedding. All trials take place at The Babe Cave Beauty Studio.
I would definitely bring a swatch and/or photo of your attire to the big events with any makeup reference material (magazine, photo, book) you envision for yourself. Makeup trends are interpreted differently through words so a photo showing us what you like speaks a thousand words. It not only tells us what you like it also shows your comfort level and style.
We can accommodate up to 4-5 people per makeup artist because each makeup session is 45-60 minutes per person. So, you will need to plan accordingly when scheduling.
You want to start searching for a makeup artist anywhere from 6 months to 12 months prior to wedding date. We tend to get booked up a year in advance so we strongly suggest doing a trial sooner than later if you really like the artists work. And schedule for your big day asap.
Our rates are very reasonable. Check out our services page for the list of rates.
